Ancient Puzzle Arts Podcast #14: Honey Bun's Deep Space Selection
Hello everyone, and welcome to the August 2021 edition of the monthly Ancient Puzzle Arts podcast! This month we have special guest.... Honey Bun !
2020 as a year was a completely wash for finding new DJ talent. If there are no live events, how is anyone going to discover new DJ talent? Fortunately, during the pandemic, Nowadays, one of my favorite venues in the world, hosted quarantine-safe DJ live streams from their venue during the height of the 2020 pandemic. As a Patreon supporter, and desperate to feel apart of a dance music community at the time, I watched pretty much all of their live streams from 2020.
However, one particular set caught my attention. It was from a DJ I had never heard of until this point named Honey Bun. She did a really excellent 3 hour set on the Nowadays system (for those who know, it's kind-of-a-big-deal.) This was one of the highlights of 2020 for me...discovering the world of Honey Bun.
Honey Bun is part of the new generation of NYC club DJs. She has her own show on The Lot Radio. She plays across numerous known venues, cross genres and communities. However, the best part to me is her ability to continue the legacy of what I could call "NYC centric deep music."
When you listen to her APA mix, take note that she really covers the board in terms of all things "deep" in a one hour mix. House, jazz, hip hop, and especially a running motif of modern RnB.
Please enjoy the new generation of "NYC Deep" with this month's APA mix by Honey Bun!
