One of the many reasons why I continue to do APA over the years, be it live events or the mix series, is how it attracts very engaging, eccentric and lovable people into my life. Enter Benjamin Johnson, aka SoundinBetween. I first was introduced to Ben when he was looking for a place to live in Philadelphia, moving from Chicago. Coincidentally, I hooked him up with another fellow APA's old apartment, and he was able to land in Philly and launch right into the Philadelphia dance music community in 2020.

In a short amount of time, SoundinBetween landed a residency at the slick & always poppin' club The Trestle Inn, host to other APA alum such as Elvin T and BilLa. Ben is an avid record collector & digger, and keeps a distinct and diverse collection that's ever growing. It's fascinating to hear how his sound has fused time spent living in Ann Arbor and Chicago (frequenting Smart Bar, of course), with his newfound fondness for the City of Brotherly Love.

For this mix, he delivers a wide range of influences in a "hey, track ID?" selection of rare, unique cuts, many of the 'braindance' variety. All tracks are analog-inclined, giving it a warm, lush feel throughout, but just like SoundinBetween himself, the mix as a whole is anything goes.
