Ancient Puzzle Arts for the longest time has been an exclusively New York and Philadelphia DJ series. I mostly feature local artists from both cities (mostly because there are a myriad of local, underrated DJs and producers that deserve more shine.) However, it's really cool when APA expands internationally, organically.
Back in 2023, at one of our APA parties at the 700, I noticed a new person who attended the party. He was one of those "first in, last out" people, so I made an effort to introduce myself. His name was Nicolas and he found out about our event through Resident Advisor. We became internet friends and soon enough I discovered he not only lives in Philly these days but DJs as Pivert. Nicolas is originally from Belgium but has been living in Philly for a couple years. I find the way he blends Philadelphia and Belgium culture quite fascinating. He's a pleasure to be around and intuitively understands the importance of community.
In April 2024, he opened up our APA party at the 700 with a fantastic deep house mix. It was an excellent opening journey on a beautiful Spring day. For the month of August, Pivert delivers us a studio mix that captures the feeling of his APA at the 700 opening set. Listen on a run, by the poolside, or gardening.
