Hello everyone, and welcome to the April 2021 edition of the monthly Ancient Puzzle Arts podcast! This month we have special guest.... Evan Michael !
I first met Evan when I was just starting to make a name for myself on the New York House music scene. When my first release as "Alex Burkat" (sounds silly to say now, but that was a big turning point) came out--"Shower Scene" on Mister Saturday Night Records--Evan was an early supporter, which I really appreciated. From there, we got to know each other better and I would always see him when I frequented shows at Cameo Gallery, which he did booking for. Looking back, there were some extra special nights in that venue that I attended......Rub n Tug, DJ Sprinkles, and a very special birthday gig Evan was gracious enough to have me spin at, alongside Sepalcure and Aquarian.
Over the years, Evan continued to book some of the best dance music talent in the world through Cameo Gallery, and he has since graduated to be a promoter of Elsewhere, by far one of my most favorite venues in NYC. In addition to promoting so much incredible music, Evan is also a very talented DJ and producer on his own. I included his track "Duende" on my mix for the Flux podcast:
Personally, I am really excited to see Evan continue to grow. As a producer, as a promoter, and as a DJ. I am really looking forward to when dancefloors open back up again, so I can see Evan spin on his home turf....NYC!
