It had been a long time since I had been to a proper bass music party in Philly. But when I saw Anna Morgan was playing Broad Hall, curated by Solar Sounds (Riva and Bianca have previously played Ancient Puzzle Arts at the 700), I knew this was going to be an awesome party. I was mostly in the main room and was impressed by local DJ Phreakwency, who I had not seen. While dancing, APA regular Braks says to me "you should check out my friend Shai FM, he's dope." I check out suggestions of people I know have good taste in music and go out a lot, so I saved the name and looked him up after the party. Not only was he from Philly, and an absolutely incredible producer, he had played the Anna Morgan party and I missed him.
Since then, we became Internet buddies and eventually chatted it up on the dancefloor when Shai FM came to the last Ancient Puzzle Arts party at the 700. We joked around, exchanged ideas and I offered to have him get on the mix series. And I am so glad he agreed to do it.
This mix is especially special to me, mostly because I had just come back from Detroit Movement festival, where I experienced some top tier bass rave music (specifically Martyn and dBridge).
